Massimo Basili is an illustrator based in Milan, Italy.

Massimo Basili

He began his career in animated films, working between Milan and Seoul. As a freelance artist, his work spans editorial illustration for magazines, book covers, and young adult publishing. He occasionally leads creative workshops and graphic novel presentations.

He is deeply engaged with queer culture and its history, focusing on themes of intimacy and identity as they unfold in everyday life. Influenced by cinema, he often ends up treating each illustration like a staged scene, where light, space and objects all play a part in the storytelling.

When he’s not drawing, he is most likely at the cinema or in a bookstore. His comic book collection currently takes up an excessive amount of space in his Milan apartment, where he lives and works today.
